Terms of Service

Last updated: July 5, 2026

These terms govern use of the StartHR website and outline how our engagements work. A signed engagement agreement — which always takes precedence over this page — is put in place before any work begins.

The service

StartHR helps small US tech companies turn a technical problem into the right engineering setup. Depending on the engagement, this can mean: finding and reviewing one technical hire (Role); scoping and delivering one defined project (Task); building longer-term engineering capacity (Ongoing team); or supporting the setup around contracts, payments, paperwork, and coordination — including for a specialist the client has already found.

Fees

Work product and confidentiality

Engagement contracts are structured so that work product and intellectual property belong to the client, and specialist-side agreements mirror those obligations. An NDA is signed before any product details are discussed.

Client responsibilities

Clients conduct their own final interviews and make their own hiring and delivery decisions. Clients agree not to circumvent StartHR by directly engaging a candidate or specialist we introduced within 12 months of introduction, other than through the engagement.

Setup support

Where StartHR supports the operating route around contracts, payments, and paperwork, this describes how we structure our own operations. It is not legal or tax advice, and the exact contracting and payment route is confirmed with each client before work starts.

Liability

Our aggregate liability under an engagement is capped at the fees paid for that engagement. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
